in 1891, Union troops from the fort at Concordia start firing on Topeka, softening it up for the thrust from Kansas City to take out the relatively few defenders left. Although assured by 'Sockless' Jerry Simpson that help is on the way, the citizens of Topeka are growing weary of being the battleground for his war. A number of them start plotting to assassinate the 'Socrates of the plains'.

in 1999, Sir Lance du Lac's Round Table Corps smashes through Cairo, the Central European Empire's former North African star possession, and the rest of Egypt quickly surrenders, throwing the Illuminati hiding within their borders to du Lac as sacrificial lambs. Queen Gwen goes on television and says to the world, “If the former masters of the Central European Empire will simply give themselves up, we shall no longer prosecute this war. Any deaths from this point on are meaningless, and caused only by the intransigence of the CEE's holdouts. Any nation that cooperates with us in giving up their former masters shall be considered an ally, and under our full protection.” This is the final nail in the coffin for the Illuminati, as those they seek shelter from turn them into the British in order to receive the queen's amnesty.

In 2008, following the Second Gulf War a terrorist backlash had caused America to become the most dangerous place on Earth. Captain von Tromp was informed that the Old Ones of Mars were grokking the fullness of his nation's aggression. Innocent Valentine Michael Smith explained that America's prospects looked bleak, in living memory the war-like inhabitants of the fifth planet had been destroyed; all that remained was the asteroid belt.

In 1980, following a security lapse that accidentally released a deadly man-made virus, the panic-stricken US military issued the desperate emergency orders Rome Falls. The superflu known as "Captain Trips" was ravaging the West Coast and all was lost. The Top Brass had lost control and decided to push the doomsday button.

Phoenix Chromos..	In 2472, future European leader Karl Adolphus completed his molecular biology matriculation paper in New Bremen. This brilliant and audacious fifteen year old student was to score full marks. He supplied the boldest of answers using just five words to answer the Caucasoid question. a) China b) Phoenix Chromosome c) Resveratrol.

In 1940, Neville Chamberlain departed South Africa on a transatlantic flight to Canada for medical attention. The former British Prime Minister was dying of cancer and General Smuts wasted no time in dispatching Chamberlain upon receipt of the Fuerher's second telegram. Neither of them are aware of the first telegram, sent ..	Chamberlain

John Major	In 1994, at Admiralty House British Prime Minister John Major studied the photographs produced by the returned passengers of London Underground train number AEJX53B. in 1891, George Nelson, a lifelong Topeka resident and former supporter of 'Sockless' Jerry Simpson, approaches the Kansan leader in the middle of siege preparations and shoots him twice in the face. “That's for Kansas,” Nelson shouts at Simpson as the leader writhes in agony on the ground. Although many people look menacingly towards Nelson as he walks away from Simpson's corpse, no one lays a finger on him. The town's leaders seize the opportunity to raise a white flag over the capitol building and ask the Union soldiers their terms for surrender.

in 1999, Prime Minister Kay Ector returns from his Greek “vacation” brimming with confidence in Queen Gwen's anti-Illuminati initiative, and quickly touches base with every country in the world that could be housing the once-powerful organization. He finds a host of nations ready and willing to give up those who once ruled them, and sends the list to Sir Lance du Lac, so that his Round Table Corps can make quick work of them. In the London hospital holding King Arthur II, meanwhile, a strange old man pays a visit to the fallen monarch. None of the staff remembers why they let him in, nor do they remember him when he is gone. But, the king dreams within his coma, and stirs ever so slightly.

In 2008, Captain von Tromp of the Champion was taught by Innocent Valentine Michael Smith how to grok. The process of taking in a full understanding is best translated from the Martian as to drink; symbolised by the water ritual. By becoming water brothers, Von Tromp and Smith gained a full understanding of each other. More importantly, they dispersed the aura of aggression that was troubling the Old Ones of Mars. And Van Tromp now understood that the threat posed to America by the Old Ones was very great indeed.

In 1980, carrying vials of the superflu known as "Captain Trips", US Agents travelled to dispersion points around the world. The desperate emergency orders Rome Falls were carried out with military precision. Operational efficiency was a marked improvement on the security lapse that had accidentally released the deadly man-made virus.

The state of TIAH

Alternate Historian's Note: November is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. In 2004, we produced our novel Warp, and last year we got a start on The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion during this annual event. Both of these novels were based on timelines from TIAH – Warp was based on the Mlosh timeline, and Protocols on the Greater Zionist Resistance timeline. Although we posted numerous links to these novels on Lulu, TIAH didn't post any excerpts from them. We're going to do it a little differently this year. This year, the November posts on TIAH will be excerpts from the novel that is being written by us for NaNoWriMo. We will still have Guest Historian entries – Stephen Payne (who has compiled several and made them available on Lulu for free – just go through the Add to Cart system to get it) has some already written and waiting, and he is going to be joined by Guest Historian JD – so, if you want to make a Guest Post this month, go ahead and send it to us, and it will appear along with our novel post.

The instructions the old man at the gas station had given her were almost perfect; Janice was skirting Waco and would soon be turning on her way to Crawford. She turned on the radio and listened to the emergency lady tell her that curfew was now in effect, and any citizen caught on the roads would be taken into custody. The emergency lady went on to say that telephone service should be restored in a few days, and regular television and radio broadcasting shortly after that, barring any other emergencies.
“The governor has requested that all Texans assist in our recovery efforts by cooperating with the authorities,” the emergency lady said.
“I bet he'd like that,” Janice muttered. She was already about an hour and a half past cooperating; she was lucky that everyone else was, because she was driving with her lights off. At nightfall, she had decided to play this stealthily. She had pulled out her night-vision goggles and was hopefully invisible in the darkness.
She had done this once before, when she snuck past the military barrier at Groom Lake and nearly got caught by that cute MP. That entire mile she drove then had left her hands sore from gripping the wheel of her old car so tightly.
This time, she had been driving for an hour and had covered nearly 30 miles, and her clothes were damp from the sweat she was covered in. She jumped every time a squirrel or bird crossed her path; an armadillo had nearly caused her to wreck about ten miles back. She knew that she couldn't keep this up much longer, but wanted the cover of night to pull this off.
She reached the farm fence that the old man had told her about. Sure enough, when she turned down the driveway and drove up to the farm, it was dilapidated and abandoned. Right behind it, she saw the other side of the driveway leading off to a dirt road. She bounced down it and was soon heading towards Crawford. According to the old man, this road led right past the president's ranch.
She turned off the emergency lady and her mindless propaganda and turned her recorder back on. “Personal journal, Janice Carbonari. I am possibly ten miles from the Crawford target location, and have managed to evade the National Guard, so far. I am being forced to use techniques that are, quite frankly, dangerous, but I feel that it is worth it in order to determine the truth of this matter. From everything I have been able to learn, it seems very unlikely that a nuclear explosion went off this morning anywhere near Crawford, Texas.” She glanced over at the Geiger counter, which was registering normal levels of background radiation. “My Geiger counter is reading normally. This close, it should be giving me some kind of elevated reading, but no. I will be keeping an eye on it as I move closer; in the next hour, possibly less, it should start going crazy. My bet is that it's going to keep quiet and steady the entire time.”
She turned off the recorder and concentrated on the road ahead. Her poor car was going to need some serious work after this; she was pretty sure that the shocks were going out on her. She felt every bump right up her spine.
She kept an eye on her odometer, and when she had driven down the dirt road for ten miles, she stopped and turned off the engine. She got out and looked to the southwest, the direction that the old guy had said the ranch was. There was certainly no evidence of an explosion around her; no flattened trees, no smoking debris, nothing. But, she couldn't see the ranch, itself. She couldn't even tell if there was any structure in front of her at all.
She needed to gain some elevation so that she could see further, but the land around her was pretty flat. She looked off in the distance and saw what she thought was probably Waco. She thought for a minute, then got back in her car and drove back to the abandoned farmhouse, then back to the main road, where she pointed her car in the direction of Waco.

in 1891, President Benjamin Harrison holds his first meeting about “Sockless” Simpson's Kansas rebellion. The already-unpopular Harrison is told by his cabinet that Congress is clamoring for him to retake Kansas or face impeachment. Because of the seeming illegitimacy of his campaign's victory in 1888, President Harrison has been abandoned even by his fellow Republicans, and is facing the twilight of his life in public. He tells his cabinet, “My personal fortunes do not matter, gentlemen. What matters is the Union that I fought a war to preserve. Kansas will be American again.”

in 1998, French union organizer Lance du Lac joins the ranks of Arthur Pendrake in Great Britain. The flamboyant Frenchman attracts the attention of Pendrake himself, who likes du Lac's organizational skills and is impressed with his character. For his part, du Lac is practically overcome with hero worship for Pendrake, and is the first to swear his fealty to King Arthur. Pendrake put du Lac in charge of security for his burgeoning followers, and the Frenchman teaches a cadre of newly-knighted men the techniques he had used successfully in his homeland to build unions against rather stiff opposition. Before long, Arthur comes to rely on du Lac's advice even more than he does on Merl's – just as the Illuminati planned.

Tired

In 1766, Rip Van Winkle, driven out of home by his wife for his broken promises to repair the house wandered into the Castkill mountains with his dog “Wolf”. A band of men hailed from the river. The whole group reminded Rip of the figures in an old Flemish painting, in the parlor of Dominie Van Schaick, the village parson, and which had been brought over from Holland at the time of the settlement. Together they drank a flagon of “Hollands” together, and Rip fell deep asleep.

The Shadow	In 1941, Orson Welles strikes out in a new direction following the release of Citizen Kane. In order to make himself more appealing to the movie studios, Welles made a movie out of his radio show The Shadow. The protagonist is a fictional character created by Walter B. Gibson in 1931 in a semimonthly series of pulp magazines. The first story was titled "The Living Shadow". The character is one of the most famous of the pulp heroes of the 1930s and 1940s. In print, he wore a slouch hat and a black, crimson-lined cloak with an upturned collar (while in later comic books and the movie, The Shadow wore a crimson scarf around the lower part of his face). He also skulked in the shadows using his skill at concealing himself -- at first. In due course, and in his most famous incarnation, The Shadow became an invisible man who supposedly learned "while traveling through East Asia ... the mysterious power to cloud men's minds, so they could not see him."

In part, that new incarnation was born of necessity; radio's time constraints made it difficult to describe The Shadow in hiding and nearly invisible. Some believe the Shadow was a hypnotist, as explicitly mentioned in at least a few radio episodes; others contend that the Shadow could manipulate Qi. Because radio was not a visual medium, audiences found The Shadow's invisibility easy to accept. The big screen takes the character to a new level of imagination, and ”The Shadow – the Movie” is the box office hit of 1942.Welles was taken in a new and unexpected direction that eventually lead to the goth classic “Batman”.

Tom Cruise	In 2007, (KP International) Tom Cruise's reps were reportedly angry about the release of photos of the actor looking bald and fat during filming for his role in the upcoming comedy, Tropic Thunder. "Mr Cruise's private appearance was supposed to be a secret for his fans worldwide. [Paparazzi] have ruined what should have been an upsetting discovery for moviegoers," read a statement from the actor's reps, World Entertainment News Network reported. Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr, Nick Nolte and Matthew McConaughey star in the film, which is expected to hit theatres next summer.
Old and Fat

Kennedy	In 1979, Stanley Shapiro wrote the second in a series of articles entitled A Time to Remember in which the journalist was sharply critical of post-Vietnam Foreign Policy. Better for the US to have been humbled by the war in Vietnam and then this ultra-belligerance would have been nipped in the bud, and Westmoreland sent off into a quiet retirement was Shapiro's view.
In Eisenhower and Kennedy, the US had been led by careful crisis managers that had steered the nation away from disaster. Ike had assaulted the congressional military industrial complex with Kennedy threatening to splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces. In fact Bay of Pigs showed the world exactly what would happen if congressional military industrial complex drove events - a disaster.

In 1941, French Marine Minister François Darlan sent orders to the French Naval Base at Mers-el-Kébir to increase combat preparedness (e.g. deploy torpedo nets in the harbor), with immediate effect. Due to a catalogue of disasters, the orders were not received in good time before six British carriers under the command of British Admiral James Somerville. Launched a first wave of 181 planes composed of torpedo bombers, dive-bombers, level bombers and fighters. Overall, twenty-one ships of the French Mediterranean fleet were damaged and the death toll reached 1,297 with 350 injured. Conspiracy theorists point to a German plot. That aside, the result was very much in favour of the Nazis, with opinion in France swinging strongly behind the Vichy Regime which became a genuine partner in a new european community.

Snakeyes

In 1963, the strange being known as Snake Eyes is still working hard to tie up loose ends. Even though the body count has already reached ten and all the principles are dead. Today's problem is the bullet casings ejected when a bullet or bullet fragment struck a nearby curb. Agents are sent to take away the evidence and store it somewhere safe. Like in the Grand Canyon, thinks Snake Eyes, his mood breaking for a moment.

In 1963, on this day Dallas night club owner Jacob Rubenstein aka Jack Ruby was shot and killed by W. Guy Banister in the basement of Dallas police headquarters. Unconscious, Ruby was put into an ambulance and rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital, the same hospital where both JFK ad Lee Harvey Oswald had died over the last three days. Doctors operated on Ruby, but Banister's single bullet had severed major abdominal blood vessels, and the doctors were unable to repair the massive trauma. At 48 hours and 7 minutes after the President's assassins death, Ruby was pronounced dead. After a full autopsy, Ruby's body was returned to his family.

In 1941, the Hull note, formally called "Outline of proposed Basis for Agreement Between The United States and Japan" was delivered on this day. The US Government accepted efforts toward the establishment of peace through the creation of a new order in East Asia. President Charles Lindbergh had no time for colonialism, and astutely foresaw that the Empire of Japan could be a strategic partner in the region for the forthcoming battle with communism.

In 1980/1941, a fleet of six aircraft carriers commanded by Japanese Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo left Hitokapu Bay for Pearl Harbour under strict radio silence. The fleet was in the path of the US aircraft carrier Nimitz, which had collided with an unnatural storm and the crew were transported to the same location. Captain Matthew Yelland decided to interfere with the past and stop the Japanese Fleet from attacking the US base. The true story of the voyage was portrayed in the movie Final Countdown. Played by actor Kirk Douglas, Yelland made the decision to intercept the incoming Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, but during the attempt, the freak storm returned and sends both the Americans and Japanese back to 1980. The result is that America does not enter the war, and Asia, including Oceania is absorbed into the Empire of Japan.

No Man Born Of Woman...

in 1057, Macbeth, King of the Scots, proves that you can’t use semantics against prophesy; he defeats Malcolm Canmore in battle, proving no man born of woman could defeat him, securing his throne for the next 20 years.

in 1769, Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio, Corsica. He rose from somewhat humble beginnings to unite Italy under him as Napoleon I. He conquered virtually all of continental Europe during his 13-year reign of the Italian Empire.

in the Dreaming, Wandjina is cast down from Heaven to one of the native lands he is guarding. The people’s roar of triumph over their old patron is heard throughout Heaven, and there is a quake of fear among all the natives as they prepare for the next attack from the people.

in 1892, with hundreds of thousands of tons of rock in tow, the Bandai vulcanologists returned to an earth that was being wracked by eruptions and quakes. With all speed, the Mlosh and human scientists began rebuilding the earth’s mantle with the rock they had carried from the asteroid belt. The world watched in tense anticipation.

in 1935, humorist Will Rogers wraps up filming on Okie Corral, a comedy he had been cast in just a couple of months before. He was disappointed at the film’s mediocre reception, because he had given up a trip to Alaska to star in it.

in 1944, Linda Ellerbee, first woman to anchor the CBS Nightly News, was born in Bryan, Texas. When Walter Cronkite decided to retire, he wanted to pick a successor from Texas, and both Dan Rather and Linda Ellerbee fit the bill. Cronkite took the bolder course, and CBS backed his decision. Ellerbee still anchors CBS’ news program, and is now the most trusted woman in America.

Their joy at independence is marred, though, as fractions develop between the Hindu and Muslim alliance, and soon there is a religious civil war raging across the huge nation. The new Prime Minister, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a Muslim who had been placed at the head of the government in the hope that this would stave off religious division, was overthrown by Hindu nationalists and murdered in the streets of New Delhi.

in 1958, Buddy Holly and Maria Elena Santiago were married in Lubbock, Texas. The new Mr. and Mrs. Holly apparently had true love ways, because they were together until Buddy’s death in 2001, and had 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

in 1961, West German workers began construction of the Berlin Wall, shutting off the fascist west from the enlightened socialism of the east. The Soviet States of America immediately denounced the construction, calling for the West to “remain open to trade, to ideas, to the world outside their narrow ideology.”

in 1969, the Woodstock Music & Art Fair began in Bethel, New York. The festival had planned for thousands to show up and had 24 big-name rock acts lined up to perform, including The Who, Jimi Hendrix and Creedence Clearwater Revival. When traffic problems caused thousands, and possibly hundreds of thousands, to turn away, the planned 3 days of the festival became 2, and it closed to a nearly empty field.

in 1996, Dr. Melvin Courtney makes several photocopies of all of his notes and creates two backup copies of the hard drive on his computer. He places a stack of photocopies and a hard drive backup in a safe deposit box and leaves another with an old friend he hasn’t seen in years. He now feels ready for the interview the next morning.

in 2000, Mikhail von Heflin and Velma Porter accompany their host, Li Huang-Sen, to the farm land outside of Shanghai, and the home of the old man who came to collect the debt from Li. The old man shows them into a hidden basement, where a young girl is staying. “My granddaughter is no longer able to stay here,” he tells them. “Please help her escape the country.” The Baron and his wife agree to smuggle her to America.

in 2004, a probe is launched into the Oort cloud to scan for the Elder power signature that the Lalandians have managed to transmit to earth. This will be their early warning signal in case the aliens find earth in spite of their preparations. Discussion begins in the space agencies of each major power about building a generation ship, as the Lalandians did, to escape from the clutches of the Elders. Their plan is to build the ships well before the Elders arrive, so that there is actually time to escape.

in 709 AUC, Rome’s dictator, Gaius Julius Caesar, heeding the advice of an old seer, sent soldiers into the Senate in his place and arrested several senators who were planning to assassinate him. After putting the conspirators to death, Caesar abolished the Senate and imposed martial law on Rome while he rooted out all his enemies.

in 963, agents of the Holy British Empire assassinate Romanus II of Byzantium, paving the way for Pope Edmund the Magnificent to assume lordship of the eastern remains of the old Roman Empire. Although short-lived, the British rule of Byzantium produced some of the greatest medieval works of art, such as Athelian’s Byzantine Skies.

in 1493, Christopher Columbus and his three ships are lost in a huge storm in the Atlantic on their return from what he believes to be India. Rumors fly around Spain as to his fate, and no further expeditions are sent to the west.

in 1655, a brief truce was called in the Secret War between the Conquerors and Conspirators of the Speaker’s Line when the oldest living Child of Telka died in China. Jin Hu Tao, reportedly 122 years old, had opposed the War and urged the factions to work together rather than fight. Out of respect for Jin, the Secret War did not recommence for 2 years.

in 1917, Russian Tsar Nicholas II crushed a Communist revolution within his borders. Several freedom-loving comrades who had learned revolutionary techniques while in exile in the United States of America, returned to their homeland and attempted to overthrow the reactionary ruler, but failed.

in 1952, Mikhail von Heflin, carrying his unconscious lover, Velma Porter, stumbles into the ruins of a small village. Exhausted as he is, he recognizes Heflin, the capitol of his barony. He finds his old mansion, the secret chambers still intact, and lays down with Miss Porter on a dusty but still comfortable bed.

in 1990, American troops occupied the Canadian province of British Columbia. President Ralph Sheridan had intimidated the Canadians into giving up their territory by hinting that force would be used against them if they didn’t. American sympathizers in B.C. had been agitating for years to join with the U.S. and sabotaged Canadian efforts to keep the province.

in 2004, a firefight breaks out on the Athena as the teams led by the Sheridans report Titanian methane crabs all over the ship. Jacob and Livinia Sheridan order all their men to withdraw back to their spaceship, and they take off hurriedly. The Australian doctors plan to vaporize the ship with as much firepower as they can muster, but before giving the order, Livinia notices something odd – the crabs are not registering on their sensors.

Troops of the Arab Legion shelled the State compound in which the defiant Ariel Sharon was cornered. A long siege was lifted only when Sharon died of a massive brain tumour eighteen months later.

In 1990, singer, songwriter and guitarist Curtis Mayfield narrowly avoided major injury when stage lighting equipment fell and narrowly missed him at an outdoor concert at Wingate Field in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. Mayfield forged ahead, wrote, sang and directed the recording of New World Order with the legendary guitarist, Edmund Darris.

In 1942, in Manila captured General Douglas MacArthur was marched into custody by a dozen Japanese guards. The other POWs he joined at the old Spanish Prison were fellow American officers who were also captured during the Japanese conquest of the Philippines MacArthur's tragedy was not just the Command failure of defeat, but the death of wife and son when his escaping destroyer was sunk. His trademark cap was gone, service uniform filthy and his skin drawn tight; already an old man, he looked a hundred years old - yet MacArthur had no plans to fade away.

In 1975, in a ground-breaking event subsequently described by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the "50 Moments That Changed Rock and Roll", Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band began a five-night, 10-show stand at New York's Bottom Line club. The event attracted major media attention, and was broadcast live on WNEW-FM. In a reprise of the club gigs played in the 1960s, Springsteen took on the task of collecting the band's nightly pay and distributing it amongst his bandmates, explaining his longstanding nickname "The Boss."

The Announcement

in 1999, unknown and unseen to each other, two teams of assassins moved into the royal chambers at Buckingham Palace in London; the one led by Sir Lance du Lac went to the queen's bed chamber, and the one led by Prime Minister Sir Kay Ector advanced on King Arthur. The stealthy, quiet men did their work professionally and cleanly, and the monarchs were soon bleeding profusely. Arthur maintained consciousness, and crawled to Queen Gwen's bed, where he found her life ebbing away. “Arthur,” she said, trying to hold her life in with one hand and reaching out to him with the other. “Arthur, I love you. I'm sorry I mucked it all up.” He smiled through the blood that was welling up in his mouth, and reached over to press the button that would summon the staff. This was almost too much effort for him, and he swooned. She steadied him, but that let loose more blood than she could spare. “You were the greatest queen that England has ever known,” he whispered into her ear as he rested himself beside her on the blood-soaked bed. “I only regret that I will never know your child.” He paused, then added, “Our child.” He lowered his face to hers for a kiss, but she was already growing cold, and he sank back with a sob. With his last bit of strength, he pulled her body to him and held her tenderly. The young serving girl who answered the bell screamed and ran over to them, finding Queen Gwen dead and King Arthur barely holding onto life. “Quickly,” he said to her, feeling everything slipping away, “quickly, bring Sir Lance; bring help.” She ran crying from the room, shouting, “Their majesties are murdered! Help, help, their majesties are murdered!” As the sound of her panic roused the entire castle, Arthur felt an old, familiar presence at his side, and a great calm swept over him. “I was wondering if you'd show up,” he said to the old man. “What good is having a great wizard advisor if he only ever appears when it's too late?” The old man chuckled and laid a hand on Arthur's forehead, stroking his hair tenderly. “I should have never come out of the coma; Gwen had everything under control, even if she was doing it for the wrong reasons.” Merl's voice soothed him as it said, “But then, you would never have reconciled; she wouldn't have your forgiveness.” Arthur tried to shrug, but didn't have the strength. “I don't think that's terribly important.” Merl sat down on the bed, but Arthur didn't feel the bed shift at all. “But, it is, Arthur, it is. Everything that we do in our brief time upon this world casts shadows on those around us; that is the true afterlife, Arthur. That is our immortality.” Arthur felt very cold, and Merl's hand gripped his. “I came back from death once,” he told Merl. The old wizard smiled at him and said, “Twice.” Arthur smiled and meant to nod, but his head was so heavy that all he could do was let it lean back until it touched Gwen's. He heard the thundering footsteps of people coming in to help, and saw Lance's face hover over his own. “Goodbye, my brother,” he said to Lance, whose face was covered in tears. The knight attempted to pull Arthur away from Gwen, but with his last breath, King Arthur told him, “Let me stay with her, Lance; let me stay with her, always.” Sir Lance felt the king's life slip away from him at that moment, and couldn't bring himself to move the two of them apart. He turned to the servants and guards who now crowded the chamber and told them, “The king – and queen – are dead.” His voice choked as he struggled to continue. “Let there never be another; for we have been blessed once with this great pair. It would be selfish of our people to expect such leaders to come along again.”

In 1999, the networks ran installment four of TSEotTC. British, French and German soldiers climbed out of the trenches for the Christmas Truce of 1914. Football was played, chocolate and cigarettes swapped. Weapons were thrown onto pyres and burnt. A new era of brotherhood was ushered in, the Century of the Common Man according to the peacenik Winston Spencer Churchill.

Murdered Peacenik

Admiral George “Steve” Morrison was the keynote speaker at the decommissioning ceremony for Bon Homme Richard, his first ship as an admiral, on July 3, 1971 in Washington D.C., USA (just 12 hours after his agents killed son Jim Morrison in Paris France). Steve was incensed by his son's anti-establishment positions and decided to kill him. In 30,000 BC, hominid visitors from the planet Omega abandoned their biological uplift project on Earth. The results of attempts to breed out the animal characteristics of mankind were frustrating. Prospects for further eugenics and even genetic engineering attempts were considered poor. Incredibly fast moving climatic changes meant the tropics would enter an Ice Age in just three years. The Omegans cut their losses and returned back through the Stonehenge Gate. In 1764, in a red grape vineyard the child Magnifico gave full reign to his impish character, playing in carefree abandon. His beaming parents sipped red wine in the shade of a beautiful tree. The woman drank sparingly, she had fallen again. Soon God-willing Magnifico would have a sibling and their little community ..	Red Wine

The disease has been labelled for the crimson scar upon the victims neck. They did not know, and could not know that the colour red was also the clue to the antidote. The antidote that ultimately saved the Caucasoid from extinction. Future leader of Europe Karl Adolphus would grow up in the twenty-fifth century, taking his daily dose of resveratrol as routinely as his forebear Magnifico did before him.

Hanging	In 1882, Charles Guiteau was hung in Washington, District of Columbia for the shooting death of President George Armstrong Custer. At his trial, Guiteau pleaded innocence by way of insanity. In 2007, on this day the Reuters office at the Vatican City issued the following statement ~ The Knights Templar, the Christian military order accused of heresy and sexual misconduct, will soon be partly rehabilitated when the Vatican publishes trial documents it had closely guarded for 700 years. A reproduction of the minutes of trials against the Templars, "'Processus Contra Templarios -- Papal Inquiry into the Trial of the Templars'" is a massive work and much more than a book -- with a 5,900 euros (4,125 pounds) price tag.

"This is a milestone because it is the first time that these documents are being released by the Vatican, which gives a stamp of authority to the entire project," said Professor Barbara Frale, a medievalist at the Vatican's Secret Archives.

"Nothing before this offered scholars original documents of the trials of the Templars," she told Reuters in a telephone interview ahead of the official presentation of the work on October 25.

The epic comes in a soft leather case that includes a large-format book including scholarly commentary, reproductions of original parchments in Latin, and -- to tantalise Templar buffs -- replicas of the wax seals used by 14th-century inquisitors.

Speculation has arisen of a historic visit to Malta from Pope Benedict. An invitation from the Grand Master is yet to be issued, but there are understood to be no pre-conditions for such a visit.

In 1914, the Byzantine Empire declared war upon the Allied Powers of Britain, France and Russia. The perspective of Emperor Constantine XV was determined by Russian ambitions for Constatinople and a perceived British threat from the Suez Canal Zone. Following the Russian débâcle at the Battle of Tannenberg and Masurian Lakes, Byzantium - the “sick old man” of Europe - judged an Allied victory unlikely and belatedly honoured a collective defence treaty with the Central Powers.

Jacques Parizeau

In 1995, Québécois federalists narrowly lost a 49.4% to 50.6% referendum for a mandate to negotiate union with Canada. Since Samuel de Champlain's famous journey up the St. Lawrence River in a 1603 expedition, Québéc had been a Francophone pocket in North America. However not all Québécois were in the mood for celebrating. Premier Lucien Bouchard angrily declared that the loss was due to "money and the ethnic vote", resigned over public outrage and as per his commitment to do so in case of a loss. His successor, nationalist Jacques Parizeau immediately set about organising a triumphant five hundred year celebration of independence, declaring Vive le Québec libre ! (Long live free Quebec!).

In 2008, on the eve of Election Day, Texan singer/songwriter and Independent US Presidential Candidate Richard S. “Kinky” Friedman shared his thoughts on competitors' Condoleeza Rice and Hilary Clinton. Asked if he agreed that the campaign was a two-horse race he replied "I agree with her; it's between Condi and her ego."	Kinky Friedman

Truman	In 1953, US President Douglas MacArthur formally approved the top secret document National Security Council Paper No. 162/2, which states that the United States' arsenal of nuclear weapons must be maintained and expanded to counter the communist threat. Shortly afterwards, former US President Harry S Truman began to organise a national resistance movement, convinced that MacArthur had failed to grasp the once-only opportunity that the Bomb had offered in Japan.

In 1965, just miles from Da Nang, United States Marines repel an intense attack by wave after wave of Viet Cong forces, killing 56 guerrillas. Among the dead, a sketch of Marine positions was found on the body of a 13-year-old Vietnamese boy who sold drinks to the Marines the day before. President Kennedy seized upon this event to announce the withdrawal of American forces from Vietnam by the end of 1965, as he had planned two years before.	Alt Historian
