ALTERNATE HISTORIAN'S NOTE: Thank you all for the donations. We truly appreciate them, and they have helped keep us going! On a less happy note, we didn't have enough entries for our Valentine's Day contest to make up an entire post, so everyone who entered will be seeing their posts on that day, along with some by your alternate historian. in 1123 Post-Creation, Lucifer and Michael wander about Eden, and see that paradise has fallen from what it once was. Those with stronger angelic parentage have established themselves as a hierarchy over those of more human ancestry. Those without wings are little more than slaves to those with wings. Lucifer and Michael weep at the state of Eden, and the bright one sobs, “I must beg the Creator to set things right.” He then leaps skyward to fly to Heaven.

in 1847, the world’s greatest inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, was born in Milan, Ohio. Edison’s adaption of Babbage’s Difference Engine became a world-transforming tool that allowed for the storage and transmission of vast amounts of information instantaneously. His work was directly responsible for the Knowledge Railroad that connects all of humanity today.

in 1858, 14-year-old Marie-Bernarde Soubirous, claiming that the Virgin Mary had told her of its healing powers, drank from a well she dug near Lourdes, France. Unfortunately for her, the well’s water was impure, and she died of an intestinal virus shortly afterwards; her mention of the Blessed Virgin’s appearance was hushed up by local Church fathers.

in 1904, the defensive fleet of the human and Mlosh from earth rendezvous at the Plutonian defensive perimeter to meet the incoming fleet from the Mlosh homeworld. They now realize that they are facing an offshoot of the Mlosh, possibly bred for battle. The children of the earth brace for a hard fight.

in 1918, Milo Cranston is confronted by Mikhail von Heflin and Velma Porter, and at first, denies entering their cabin. But, as he feels the gem in his pocket, he grows stronger, and attacks them. Surprised at his sudden burst of strength, the couple is bowled over, and Cranston escapes them. They realize they're not dealing with a simple thief anymore.

in 1963, Pete Best, international superstar, records his huge hit album When You’re My Love. The album shoots to the second spot on the British charts days after its release, and there is talk across Europe and America of the new sensation from Liverpool.

in 1970, Japan launches the satellite Ohsumi from its Kagoshima Space Center, joining the western powers of America, France and the Soviet Union in the heavens. Their national will to exceed soon pushes them past the other nations, and Japan lands the first human on Mars, Ryoko Kikuchi, in 1984.

in 1988, Nelson Mandela, the symbol for anti-apartheid movements across the globe, died in his Robben Island Prison. He had been placed in solitary confinement on Robben Island after leading the other inmates in civil disobedience against the hideous conditions in the prison, and was never seen again. Bloody riots after his death overthrew the rule of the white minority in South Africa.

in 2003, a small incident almost blows up the delicate peace negotiations between the People’s Republic of America and the Soviet States of America, as a small band of revolutionaries explode an S.S.A. base in Montana. When P.R.A. troops capture the men responsible and hand them over to the S.S.A., negotiations resume.

in 2005, the Save Earth crowd feels that Jeanne Best has been deprogrammed, but she and Dave Lange don't know where to go. Now that they have been exposed to the Claws, neither feels safe. The movement leaders think that the couple can be set up in a safe house in Dallas, provided they make a little change to their appearance.

in 2005, Chelsea Perkins, who now looks like her ancestor Morris Perkins, goes back to her home town and messes with the heads of several of her classmates. When the police are called because a 40-year old man is harassing junior-high students, she runs and barely escapes back to the tunnel that leads to the Great Tree. One of the officers notices her going through the tunnel, and follows; he is shocked to find himself in another part of the continent, and wanders around.
